Via Ferrata

Probably our most favorite Switzerland adventure was going on the Via Ferrata or Klettersteig while staying in Murren. It's a climbing/hiking route along the side of the Alps just below the town of Murren. Our two guides took us on ziplines, ladders, suspension bridges, cable bridges, and even some simple rebar bolted to the side of the cliff. All at 1600m off the ground!! The entire experience was amazing - our guides were fantastic and we really felt safe the entire time.

This entire area is a mecca for adventure sports. In fact, the platform we are standing on below is used for base jumping -- if you look closely you can even see a tiny red paraglider behind us.
Um. Maybe next trip.

We crossed so many gorgeous waterfalls - the views could not be beat.

This was the last bridge we crossed and it was loooong. And actually a lot less stable than it looks. Once you got out a bit farther, it really gets to swaying...but the view was spectacular!

The entire route took us about 3 1/2 hours and we considered it one of the highlights of our trip.
Look at that! We made it to the end -- a little more sore and a little more wet perhaps, but totally happy.

This is so, so, SO amazing!!! I couldn't believe the pics you were posting on Instagram, so I looked up the Via Ferrata hashtag and saw a billion more! Totally beats our anniversary adventure 60 feet up in the trees. :) So incredible!
