The (foggy) Schilthorn

One of the super tall mountains just above our little village of Murren was the Schiltorn -- the day after our via ferrata adventure we decided to take the gondola ride up to the top to get some great views (ha!) and check out where the James Bond movie "In Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed. If you  know Travis well, you know that he is a bit of a 007 fan so this was a pretty exciting experience for him.

We checked the weather cams before heading up the mountain -- a seemingly nice and clear day -- but by the time we finally made it up to the top, a nice fog had rolled in obscuring most of the view.

The most fascinating part of going to the top of the mountain was being able to simply walk down a few stairs from the observatory and the trails to climb down the mountain are right there. One little warning sign between you and an almost 3,000m summit.
So of course, we had to wander out a bit..make a snow cone or two and check out the beautiful wildflowers that managed to thrive at such a high altitude. It was freezing out there, but eerily quiet and stunning none the less.

That white and red trail marker denotes a 'challenging' hike.

"Don't shoot!"

The mountains we would have been able to see -- if the fog hadn't beaten us to it.
