The Mark of the PI

Just to make sure we came home with our baby, I got hold of a permanent marker in the delivery room and made a little mark on the bottom of his foot. The nurses said they'd never seen anyone do that before but were able to guess I was an engineer when they saw that the unique mark I'd chosen was the PI symbol. Ha! This kid doesn't have a chance... at least I know we came home with the right little Petey.

Tired?

A classic pic of a new dad getting used to the job.

Travis' Blog Tag

I too got blog tagged, so here are some weird/little known facts about myself:

The rules of the game:
• Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
• Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog, as we all want to know them.
• Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
• Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I can never seem to hold onto loose change for more than 24 hours. I don't know where it goes as I never spend it but someone somewhere is getting rich on all the quarters I've lost.

2. I love buttons. I'm not a formal collector of buttons I just really really like those little guys. Sometimes I find them while walking around and think it a treasure. I always pick them up and try to keep them but they always seem to get lost. Someday I'm going to find a whole stash of buttons and quarters that I've lost.

3. I thought riding motorcycles and riding in the back of pickup trucks were against church standards til I was in my early teens. This is mainly because my mom would have killed me if she ever found out I'd done either.

4. This may not come as a surprise to some people but I laugh at my own jokes about 10 times louder and longer then anyone else's I know. My mind doesn't quite move quick enough to process everything before it gets routed to the mouth, so often when a punchline comes out that's the first time I've ever heard it.

5. I am able to eat the same thing for several months without getting bored of it (ie hotdogs -> January-April, microwave burritos -> May-August, Ramen -> September-December). I once survived for 3 months in Brazil solely on chicken broth.

6. I can only sleep if I have exactly 1 and 3/4 pillows under my head. I have to seek out partially smooshed pillows to fulfill the 3/4 pillow requirement.

7. I get very irritable when getting a haircut. I hated it when I was 6 and I still do.

8. Most of my favorite books were written for elementary school aged girls. I'm not sure what that says about me.

Blog Tag

I've been tagged!!

The rules of the game:

So, I kind of tweaked the rules.. you're supposed to have 7 random facts and tag 7 friends, but I could only think of 4 random things about myself (maybe I'm just too normal..um, yeah right) so that's all I'm doing! So here are my random facts, enjoy!

1. I can touch my tongue to my nose. 'Nuff said.

2. I'm actually named after my uncle (Michael). My older brother thought Uncle Mike was the coolest person in the entire world and requested that my mom's next baby be named after him. Alas, I came out a girl and was thusly named Michelle.

3. I went to my senior prom with my daughter.
Got your attention didn't I?! My senior year, I was cast as the Wicked Stepmother in the play 'Cinderella'. Our director thought it would be hilarious (and it was) to cast boys (in drag) as the Ugly Stepsisters and one of my 'daughters' ended up asking me to prom!

4. Known as a supreme veggie-lover, the only vegetable I steer clear of happens to be green peas, which also happen to be one of the few veggies that Travis-the-carnivore will actually eat. Down with those little green balls of mushy poison!

I tag: Michelle, Kristi, Renee and Erin! Feel free to do the full 7 ladies, I just couldn't think of anything else.

9 Months!

He's here!!

Just kidding! Fooled you though, huh?! I can't believe Trav actually got this little jacket to fit on his head. All this wondering what our baby is going to look like and now we finally know...

So here we are in the homestretch. Tomorrow I'll officially be 39 weeks pregnant and let's just say I feel it. My doctor really has no clue when he will be coming (isn't that nice?). So in the mean time, I'm taking the stairs, eating greasy mexican food, and..uh..spending as much time with Trav as possible.
Trav did find some ideas online on how to induce labor 'naturally' and one of the suggestions was just a crack-up. The lady knew that walking on uneven surfaces would help, so she walked with one foot on the curb and one foot on the road for a couple of miles. All I could picture was some humongous lady, waddling down the street, up-and-down, like some 6-year-old! Isn't it amazing what we'll do to get these little guys moving.
