Best Friends and Kitty Cats

I had the most wonderful best friend growing up. She moved into my ward when we were about 8 or 9 and we immediately hit it off. Enormously so. Even though she lived in another county, we managed to spend so much time at each other's houses growing up that I used to call her parents Mama and Papa Heiss. Well, I moved to Utah - we went to separate colleges, graduated, got married and had kids. Over the years we've kept in touch (but not wonderfully so) and have only managed to see each other infrequently in the past 10 years or so. The last time we saw each other? My wedding. Five years ago!! This past weekend however, she and her cute family were driving through Dayton to Michigan and ended up being able to spend the morning with Petey and me. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to meet her two beautiful little girls and hilarious husband (who probably wished Trav could have made it). The best part was that since we've been friends for so long, we were able to talk easily without feeling the awkwardness of missing out on the past five years. It was wonderful - thanks again for creating a detour to come see us Dave and Kris - we just can't wait another five years for the next visit!!

Although he did keep trying to either stick his fingers in the cat's mouth or to drag him around by the tail. Peter has started talking all the sudden lately and his newest is 'kitty kat.' It's pretty cute. After checking out all the animals, we visited the penny candy store that I might have gone a little overboard in...
