Easter Pictures

Last Sunday for Easter, we got together with my family for some long-overdue pictures. They turned out really cute even though 1) Peter screamed through most of it (we had to wake him up from a nap) and 2) my nephew Carter kept disappearing into the playhouse and showing his behind for the photos. We ate a fantastic honeybaked ham (thanks Jono & Kristi), had an egg hunt, ate too many treats and generally enjoyed a nice Sunday with the entire Familee.

Me and my cute boys!
The entire Familee

This Sunday, we had Peter's baby blessing with the ENTIRE family in town, Millets and Lees. It was pretty hectic, but so nice to have everyone around. Travis did an amazing job on the blessing and Peter did his part by not crying. It was pretty amazing actually; out of the 5 blessings (5- I know!) in church on Sunday, none of the babies cried. I found the cutest little sweater-vest outfit for him to wear and he looked perfect. By the way, all you folks with cute girls: I am so jealous of the clothes selections available for you! Every story I go to has 10-20 racks of girl clothes and only 5 or 6 racks for the boys! No fair. I didn't get to take any pictures this weekend (it was that busy) but I'll post some as soon as I get them from my parents.
We are truly blessed to have little Petey in our family and to be able to watch him grow and change every day. I love my little man! Just a side note, Peter is now two months old! We took him to the doctor this past week and he weighs 10lbs 3oz and is 22" long. It's amazing how fast he's growing. The saddest part was when they had to give him shots. His face got so red but the nurse was so fast, she got all three sticks in before he let out that first wail. Pretty impressive. He did okay afterwards, but that night, he cried and cried because his little legs were bothering him. I now know to give him tylenol before we go and afterwards to prevent a screamfest later on.

Stylin' Dos

Peter was born with a head full of really long and oh-so-soft duck fluff for hair. Actually, when I started to push during the delivery, the first thing the nurse said was "wow, this kid's got a ton of hair!" -- not "I see his head" or anything normal like that. Unfortunately, his hair doesn't really start until halfway back on his head, but it is starting to grow everywhere else (finally). I mean, you remember who his parents are right?! This poor kid is probably going to be one hairy little monkey.

Here are a couple of different ways I've found to style it. Which do you like the best?

Smooth and slick
(AKA the old man comb-over)

or..

Fuzzy like a hedgehog

Scrumptuous Pebbles from Heaven

I'm not a professional food critic or anything but I do consume food-like items often enough and as of yet have not died, so I would say my judgment as to OK things to expose my taste buds to is right up there with the best of them. So when a bag of the unreleased "Chocolate Mix Skittles" mysteriously found it's way into my life I figured I was as good as any man to critique them.

Apparently Chocolate Mix Skittles comes in 5 mouthwatering flavors; here's my review of each:

S'mores- Taste designers went a little overboard with the Honey Graham cracker taste, so each small S'mores skittle is equivalent to a two cup dose of straight honey. Mmmm Mmmm good. No marshmallow or chocolate taste was apparent.

Vanilla- Surprisingly the least chocolate flavored skittle in the chocolate mix was the best. Unfortunately, being the best tasting candy in a bag of Chocolate Mix Skittles is like being the Spelling Bee Champion amongst illiterates. It doesn't really say much.

Chocolate Caramel- This was the flavor I had the most hope for. Sadly its taste resembled all too well a two-decade-old tootsie roll found between the seat and seat back of a used Toyota Camry. Don't ask me how I know...

Chocolate Pudding- Wow, the engineers at Mars snackfoods got this one dead on! Biting through the thick, hard, candy shell of a chocolate pudding skittle is just like biting into the thick, hard shell of real pudding! Wait a minute...

Brownie Batter- Skittles brownie batter flavor is one that only the Easy-Bake oven's 100 watt bulb could rival. It's like that first batch of brownies you ever made in your life, yeah, the ones not even the birds would peck at. Imagine that encapsulated into a small dry pill that you would only take if it cured something.

Choco Mix Skittles aren't entirely without their valor though. They make excellent ammo for slingshots and I would highly recommend them to parents trying to instill a phobia of candy in their children.

Sadly, the Skittles Chocolate Mix holds rank amongst other candy would-bes and has-beens including the Snickers Tuna-Nougat bar, (Disgusted? Why Wait?) and the shell-less Naked M&M's, (They just can't wait to melt in you mouth). Sad, I know. I could really go for some Tuna-Nougat packed with peanut and covered in chocolate about now.

Peter Noises

I was videoing Peter today when he started making these sweet little noises. He is so adorable, I just can't stand it!
