Peter's Bunny Build-Up Approach to Eating

Do you have a child that often just won't eat?

We've got one of those too.

We've tried various methods including jokes, bribery, consequences...everything. But what seems to work the best is what Travis dubs as The Bunny Build-Up Approach. This method works almost without fail.

And being an Engineer, he turned it into a handy-dandy flow chart for easy reference. You're welcome.

The Walrus Breakfast

So Travis made breakfast sandwiches this morning featuring these awesome little eggmen.
His words on presenting his creation?
"goo goo g'joob"

wait for it...

4 Months of Giggles

My little man is 4 months old now unbelievably. He has to be one of the happiest babies ever. So chill and content as long as he's in the same room as his crazy brother and parents. Benji's been rolling over for about a month now and scoots around pretty good too - if we stick him on a blanket and he'll have rolled or scooted off within a matter of seconds. Always ready to be off. I think he's going to be a typical younger brother in that respect.

Benji also thinks he can already sit up (which you can see here that he's only leaning slightly against the couch). But usually he just ends up doing a face-plant.

As for Benji's heart problems, things have not been going as we would have liked. At his 4 month appointment he weighed only 10 lbs 6 oz (which was a pound less than the two weeks before). So his cardiologist put him on yet another medicine and when we went back on Monday he was back up to 11 lbs. Unfortunately, he still isn't growing at the rate he needs to be able to outgrow the hole in his heart. So now our next step is surgery. It's not something we are going into lightly but we just want our little man to be able to breathe easier and grow like he should. Frankly we want to get this fixed before flu season hits because even a small cold could put him in the hospital with his current lung/heart difficulties. We'll be meeting with a cardiac surgeon in the next couple of weeks to determine the date of the procedure. To say we're a little nervous would be an understatement but we really just want our little boy healthy.

Preschool!

If you can believe it, my little man started preschool this past week. I can't believe we are to this stage already. My friends Emily and Brittany and I are doing a rotating co-op thing twice a week and this first week was my turn. For some reason I managed to have it at our house the week Travis was out of town (!!) but thankfully we survived. Three three year-old boys can get pretty silly.
Peter and his friend Dublin on the first morning modeling their backpacks. They were so excited.

We are doing a letter a week - so naturally first up was A. On the first day we made paper airplanes, an airplane hanger (or mobile - I think I'm too clever), and followed directions from arrows.

The second day we painted apples (using apples), tried different flavors of apples, applesauce and juice, went on an ant hunt, and practiced following directions from arrows again (they LOVED this game).

I had a great time with the kids but am really looking forward to have a couple of mornings with just me and Benji every few weeks!
