Halloween!

Halloween this year was all kinds of fun. We had so many opportunities to dress up and had a great time celebrating. Which is a good thing because this little man could not make up his mind, costume-wise.
First he wanted to be a dinosaur. So I found this wicked cool dino costume at goodwill! Perfect, right? Benji thought so too...
Until the week before Halloween for our chruch's trunk or treat and Fall Festival at Peter's school. Then he wanted to be a pirate.
Which was fine, because, hey, 3 year olds get to change their minds a few times.
Whereas Peter requested a bat costume this year. NOT Batman. A Bat. So I figured out how to sew some wings onto a hoodie and he was in heaven. My favorite part was how he ran around for the 2-3 weeks prior to Halloween screeching and clicking like a bat: "I'm using echo location, Mom!"

We carved a pumpkin as a family and roasted the seeds one night.

I love Peter's little jack-o-lantern smile here

Then came the day before Halloween -- we were all ready for the tricks or treats when Benji manfully declared he wanted to be a viking for Halloween.
I told him he could be whatever he wanted - It just had to come from the dress up bin as I was not finding another costume. Luckily, we had most everything for his costume, I think it turned out pretty cute.

Nora and I were dressed a mermaids for the night and it was so much fun!! I found the perfect material and sewed us some tails and made seashell necklaces from some seashells we had found at the beach a few years back.

Travis revived his old Arthur Dent costume for Halloween day but he also went as 'The Big Blue Sea" for our church party -- he wore a giant blue letter C around his neck. Clever man.

And because they were so much fun to make -- here are a few more of the mermaid costumes!

Isn't she sweet?!?
Ever since Nora started crawling, she will do this side-lying 'leaning' pose that cracks me up to no end.
I may have gone a little crazy with taking pictures of her cuteness -- she is so adorable.
