Last week I had the brilliant idea that I'd try to get Petey to make cookies with me for the first time. Usually I just do my thing in the kitchen while he dumps out his toy box in the living room. Let's just say he loved the whole experience. He especially liked rolling out the dough - and eating it.

Country Road, Take me Home

This past week, my mom and I braved a four hour flight to Georgia to go see my Grandma and Aunt Bertie. Surprisingly, this is how Petey was for most of the trip. Happy as a clam.

I haven't been back to GA since I was pregnant with Petey and we thought it would be a great time to see the family and have some fun since Trav is hard at work on the thesis. We had a wonderful time even if Petey was waking up at 7am GA time (5am my body time) and going to sleep at 10pm GA time. I even got to eat some much-missed boiled peanuts. And here's the four generation photo. Petey looks a little out of it but it had started raining by this time and we were ready to go inside.

Thank goodness Trav was healthy and alive when we returned - he's been known to forgo sleep and food in my absence - and even though we enjoyed ourselves silly, I just don't think we'll be taking any long trips with the little man any time soon.

Michelle: haha no, buddy. People weren't actually taking a bath in blood. It's an expression.

Benji's new word for anything he doesn't know the name for is "thing-a-ding" As in, "Where's my thing-a-ding, Momma?"

We picked some asparagus from the garden and Peter said: "Let's cook it and have it for dessert!" Asparagus. For DESSERT.

Benji: Dad, sometimes when you close your eyes, do you see bats?

Travis: Um, no. [pause] When you close your eyes and see bats are they good bats or bad bats?

Benji: [looking at Daddy like he is crazy pants] When I close my eyes I do not see bats!

I asked Benji to go sing a song to Nora while I was putting away the groceries so she wouldn't cry and this is what I heard him singing: "Rock-it bye baby..."

Peter wants to be a fireman when he grows up. While leaving the library, he said to some adults sitting next to him at bingo: "See ya. If ya need me when I'm an adult, you can just call 911!"

Peter brought me a picture of airplanes he had just drawn and said "Mommy, next to where I wrote my name, could you write 'illustrator' for me?"

Me: "Um, I think you mean a flu shot."

Peter: "Cause it has an 'oozy' and a 'toozy.'

While we're hiking Peter says: "Ugh. I'm all billed out guys." It took us a minute to realize he had replaced tuckered out with billed out.

I'm trying to put chapstick on his lips but Peter doesn't like it so he tells me: "No Momma. If your lips are chapped you just put slobber on them like this [he licks his lips]. See? Slobber makes your lips feel all better."

Peter: "Well you've been in my NOSE today Momma!"

Peter: "But I don't wanna leave the Old MacDonald House!"

Peter hands Travis a cup with water, milk, and juice all mixed together.

Peter: "Here you go Daddy, have some sloopie."

Travis: "MMMmm. Why's it called sloopie?"
Peter: "Because when you drink it, your eyes go all sloopie."
