Benjamin's Blessing

This past Sunday we had lots of family in town for Benji's baby blessing. Trav's dad and his wife LeeAnn came out as well as all of my family except for my brother David (who was greatly missed). Needless to say, it was a fun-filled and crazy weekend. Travis gave Benji an excellent blessing -- most notably he mentioned that Benji would be very interested in the way the world works and seek for knowledge about it -- which I take to mean we have another future engineer on our hands ;) Well, at least we know how to keep them entertained!
Here we are on Sunday with Golden and LeeAnn

And if you can believe it, here's the entire Lee family (minus David)!
It's amazing we even got one picture with all the grandkids semi-behaving.

My mom with Benji in his cute blessing outfit.
Since Benji is a particular shade of pasty white, we quickly figured out we didn't want to put him in pale clothes for the blessing for fear of them turning him into a ghost baby. (We did however wrap him in the same white blanket Peter had for his blessing.) In the end we went with this great bright lime green outfit. I think he looks like a doll.

In other news, we were finally able to get Benji's heart murmur that his pediatrician found at his 2 month check-up looked at. After meeting with a truly wonderful pediatric cardiologist, it looks like Benji has a medium-sized Ventricular Septal Defect which is basically a hole in the dividing wall that separates the lower two chambers of his heart. This can be a serious condition which could eventually require surgery, but our doctor was pretty optimistic about Benji's outlook since he has been steadily gaining weight, eats well and has good color. We'll just be watching him for the next few months pretty closely for any signs of struggle.
In the meantime, we'd greatly appreciate all your prayers for our sweet little man.

I saw that pic on your mom's FB and just loved it! I wish David could have traveled, but understand it was difficult. You are all so grown up and beautiful!

So I pretty sure that's the same heart defect my Grandmother had. The doctors didn't find it until she was mid eighties and she was very, very active her whole life. After she had the surgery, she said she felt like it was much easier for her to do more endurance stuff. So there's a little ray of light for Benji. We will keep him in our prayers.

By the way, I love the length of your hair! It's super flattering :)

What darling family pix. Wish all of the Millet side could have been there with you to enjoy with you, but we were all there in heart.
