Good Morning Granola

I really enjoy granola. And I've tried numerous recipes over the years trying to find one that suited my particular tastes - crunchy but not too sweet. I've finally stumbled upon what I think is the best yet (although, be warned: I'm sure I'll tinker with it more). And since I get asked for the recipe often enough I figured I'd share with y'all.

Ingredients:

4 cups oats
2 cups rice crispies
1/2 cup wheat germ or flax (optional)
1/4 cup oil
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup water
4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
dash salt
1 egg white (optional - for a clumpier texture)

Directions:

Combine dry and wet ingredients separately. If you like your granola with more clumps instead of a finer texture, add in egg white. Mix together and spread on a lined cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees F for 30-35 minutes, stirring once. When cool, add in coconut, dried or freeze-dried fruit and enjoy!
