St. George and a Wedding

Last weekend we met up with my family in St. George to celebrate my Dad's wedding. It was a perfect spring break getaway for us and we had a wonderful time in the beautiful Dixie weather.

On the first day, we took the kids to Pioneer Park to explore the beautiful red rocks.

 Ahh! It's a scary troll!

Nah, just kidding. He doesn't bite...too hard.

My new favorite.

Later that day we all went up Snow Canyon for the actual wedding. It was a very nice service, officiated by brother Jono -- even David got to be there.
Here's the cute girl cousins -- Brookie, Paige, Cami and Nora.

They asked for each of the grandkids to give them advice and Peter's was to "Get along as much as you can so you can be together always."
Benji asked me to give his and he said "Don't fight and don't bring sticks in the house."

All the grandkids

Nora really liked Jan's necklace.

Since we only got to explore a bit before the wedding, we all came back to the same spot the next day to do more hiking on the sandstone.

 Gorgeous.

It was a wonderfully fun adventure and we are so happy for my Dad and Jan to begin their married life together.

Sweet as Pi

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl Nora! As a Pi Day baby, this years celebration was pretty special as it was 3.14.15. We started off by running a 5k (or 3.14 miles) at 9:26am together as a family.
They even gave Nora the #1 racing bib since it was her birthday.
The kids were okay until about the first mile and then...a tire popped on the stroller. But Travis finished strong while the kids and I cheered him on.

Later that day we celebrated in style with lots of pie! Here's a small selection of the goodness we enjoyed.
I made two apple pies, a key lime, and a Symphony pie and some friends brought another key lime, another apple pie, and a cherry berry pie. Yum-o!
Nora with her favorite Barbara and Greg.
It was a bit funny to see Nora's personality in action. She's always been a bit shy and wary whenever there are lots of people around and today was no different. We had all gathered around to sing happy birthday to the birthday girl when Nora burst into tears! I guess she didn't like all that focused attention on her at once.
Look at this face of distrust...
She wouldn't have anything to do with her birthday pie until I pulled her out of the chair - she just kept hiding her face in my shirt. Poor little lady.
But then she decided she liked the pie and all was right with the world when she was in mommy's lap.
 All snuggled up.

One of Travis' coworkers decided Nora needed a remote control Jeep -- just to make sure she doesn't wind up too girly. Peter and Benji were more than happy to 'help' her try out her new toy and she chased it all over the house.

Happy Birthday to the sweetest girl around.
Nora is our curious little soul - now that she is walking, the girl is into everything, all the time. About 20 times a day she's pulling the books off the shelves or emptying the drawers in the kitchen or unrolling the toilet paper in the bathroom. She loves books and music and will start bouncing along whenever someone sings to her. She can clap, wave, blow raspberries, shake her head 'no', say Mama, Dada, Bubba, and yeah. She isn't afraid to jump right in when the boys are wrestling together -- no fear in that girl. She loves snuggles and especially loves being outside, so much so that she'll try to race out the door anytime it's opened. We love our baby so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings.

The Letter S

I hosted Benji's preschool again this past week and we were going over the letter S. On day one we played with seashells in a tub of sand (the awesome cloud dough actually). The kids loved it and got nice and messy.

Then on the second day we made SLIME! It was hilarious to watch the kid's various reactions - especially the girls. One loved it but would only touch it with her spoon, another said at first "I fink I'm going to frow up!" and other other dug right in and got her hands dirty. The boys just loved it right off the bat.

And then Benji, Nora, and I had a lunch date at Wendy's one afternoon. Look at this grown-up girl! She scarfed down several chicken nuggets and kept looking at me with those big blue eyes for more.
And I got to sit next to this cutie. What a handsome devil.

Poppies part 2

We just couldn't resist and decided to take another trip to the poppy fields. After exploring a bit more, we found a part that was full of these beautiful little purple flowers.

And look! All three kids looking at the camera all at the same time!

And there's my beautiful birthday girl.
