Rocks & Nests

We have been spending every spare minute outside lately enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

While I tackle the endless supply of weeds that need to be pulled, Peter plays on his 'pirate ship' (his playhouse) and Benji likes to play in the rock garden. Well, to be honest both boys like to play in the rocks but Benji gets a huge amount of pleasure from crawling around out there. I love watching him scoot around.
We also noticed that a bird had made a nest in the middle of our rock garden. Which I thought was hilarious (stupid bird) until Travis informed me that it was a Killdeer and they always nest in the ground.
Oh well, my bad.
Still, stupid bird. Don't you know we have snakes?!?
At first there was only one egg (which are hard to spot since they are pretty camouflaged) but now she's got four little spotted eggs she sits over night and day.
Peter especially enjoys torturing her by getting as close to her nest as he possibly can causing momma bird to caw and ruffle her feathers most impressively.
Every day we have to go outside to make sure she's still out there holding vigil.
Spring is upon us!

Sea World!

Yesterday we decided to go on an adventure to Sea World. Trav took the day off so we got up bright and early to make the trek down to San Diego.

Can you just feel the excitement on Peter's face here??
We checked out many of the animals. I think it was the penguins here. Although I don't think I took many pictures of the actual animals -- just my own crazy kids. And Travis. Although I'm pretty sure he qualifies as crazy too.
Benji did pretty great, considering he really only had one nap yesterday.
Of course we had to go see Shamu. Those whales are huge!
Travis tried to catch a wave on the turtle.
One of Peter's favorite shows (we knew it would be) was the Pets Rule show featuring lots of dogs, cats, pigs, and other random things like a kangaroo! This little guy's fur was so dang soft!
Pete & I rode the 'teacups'
And all his little man dreams came true when he got to meet Elmo and Cookie Monster towards the end of the day. I don't think I've ever seen his grin wider.
Despite being a very full day, we had a blast. The kids did great and we are ready to go back (especially since our tickets turned out to be a season passes for the same price. Score!). Give us a jingle if you're going and we'll meet you there. We'll meet you next to Shamu.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This lovely rainbow appeared first thing this morning in our backyard today.*
Makes me want to get in the car to go find a leprechaun.
Well it looks like we already caught one.

*Please don't mock my horrible photoshopping skills.

Rainbows & Robots

I found these two pictures of Peter showing off his letter 'R' crafts from preschool with Brittany.
Rainbows & Robots.

So clever! I think we found his next Halloween costume.

Gone Fishing

For Presidents Day (I know I'm a few weeks late) we did a few projects around the house and then met up with some friends at Apollo Park to go fishing.
Peter was so excited. Mainly because Daddy was home.
And even though our catch was a big fat zero, we still had a great time.

Benji was pretty tired since we went during naptime, but he enjoy watching all the commotion.
Once home again however, he perked right up when I let him go for a ride on Peter's four-wheeler. He'll sit there and ride for quite a while if I push the button for him.
