Rock Band Heros

This weekend, we went down to St. George to visit Trav's family for the holiday. We always are in the mood for a little family fun time, but this weekend was especially great. Guitar Hero has become one of our favorite new games, thanks to the Georgesters, but this weekend we experienced the phenomenon of Rock Band. My favorite part of the entire weekend, was when we decided to play Ok Go's "Here it Goes Again" on expert on a drum solo. Now, if you've ever played Rock Band drums you know it takes more than a little bit of coordination to even play on beginner. So to accomplish this feat of musicality, we had Trav on the red, Markus on the yellow, Brooke on the footpedal and me on the green and blue notes. After failing the first time or so (it's THAT hard), we were able to successfully play the song with an average of a 90% success rate. Now if we could just keep the band together we might be able to go on tour.

Giggles

My new favorite video. Peter only does this little giggle when we are taking his arms out of his shirt and when he thinks something is truly funny. Yea, I think Trav is pretty funny too.

I'm the King of New York (almost)

"You get your picture in the papes and you're famous...That's what's so great about New York"

Too true. My favorite workin' boys spouted this off in the classic Newsies and I am now experiencing the afterglow of being published in the papes.

Finally it has happened! Yours truly has been quoted and noted in the free press -- Orem's Daily Herald for anyone interested. Yes everyone, this is the start of many great interviews where I spout creative and quotable quips. Watch for more big things from this rising star. And I won't mind signing your copy of the article if you stop by, but make an appointment, I might be swamped by adoring fans already.

FYI: My fabulous quotes begin towards the end of the article (they had to get all the boring stuff out of the way first).

May 11 = one special day

Sunday we celebrated my first Mother's Day and Travis' Birthday. It worked perfectly, he got us donuts the night before for breakfast (can anyone say chocolate-frosted-custard-filled goodness) and we both got to open presents. It was a very special day and I just wanted to mention some of the reasons why I love my man so much.

He is an excellent father. I always knew he would be, but it still amazes me how wonderful he is with Petey.
He is hilarious. His jokes could make it onto any laffy-taffy wrapper.
He is super good-looking. The first time my great-aunt Bertie met him, she said (insert heavy southern accent) "Michelle, that is one handsome man." Yep, I think so too.
He is handy. Attic ladder, new floors, installing shelves..baby you are amazing.
He is smart. I still can't even comprehend what he is writing his masters thesis on.
He is spontaneous. Buying beach cruisers, a scooter that doesn't go, a telescope..I can keep going.
He is spiritual. His knowledge of the gospel continually astounds me.
He is curious. Learning hindi, chinese, making his own cheese, root beer...again, I can keep going.
He is outgoing. Whenever we are in a group with people we don't really know, he is always the first person to jump in and make conversation.
He has quirks. If you know him, you know what I mean.
He celebrates nerd pride day. May 26th you'll see him with his trusty towel.
He is forgiving. I have some quirks of my own and he is always ready to forgive me when I go too far.
He loves me too.

Baby, thank you for four wonderful years and I hope we have many more to come, Happy Birthday. I love you!

News Flash!

This is a momentous occasion. Last night, Peter slept through the night!! He snoozed the night away from 8pm to 7am, a whopping ELEVEN hours! I actually woke up at 5am and poked Trav to see if he had gotten up with him without me knowing. But he said no..and we happily went back to sleep for an entire night without any feeding, rocking, patting or lullabyeing. I can't really take credit for my baby's ability to sleep well, he just does it all on his own. Peter basically put himself on a schedule when he was only a month old and continues to do so without any real coaching from me. You can tell time by this kid. But knock on wood, let's just hope this momentous occasion becomes a reoccurring trend and not just a one time fling.

A New Girl in Town

No, this is not a wig. (I actually got asked that by a co-worker).
I know, I know, how cliche. As soon as a girl has a baby, she chops off all her hair right?! Well, I have been getting bored with the hairstyle that I've had since I was 10. I was thinking about chopping it off when I went to get a trim from my sister. I told her what I was thinking and she got so excited that I made up my mind. We looked through all sorts of hair magazines and decided on this pixie cut. Now I just need the pointed ears. I love it! Tracie had similar hair about 4 years ago and whenever I glance in the mirror I keep thinking, "what's Tracie doing here? Oh wait, that's me!" Basically I decided I loved the short hair when getting ready took me only 10 minutes instead of 35. Everyone who sees me for the first time does this great double take, it's hilarious! It's a whole new me.
